Director Agriculture Kashmir attends progressive agri leadership summit 2021

Receives prestigious state award

Srinagar: Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal attended Progressive Agri Leadership Summer 2021 at Solan Himachal Pradesh. During the conclave Director Agriculture received prestigious state award in the field of agriculture.
Pertinent to mention, the Krishi Udyami Krishak Vikas Chamber in Association with Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni and Sikkim State Cooperative Supplly and marketing federation Limited has organized Progressive Agriculture Leadership Summit 2021 at Sonan Himachal Pradesh. Parshutam Rupala Union Ministry for Fisheries and Animal Husbandry was the chief guest while as Virendar Kanwar State Minister for Agriculture, J.P.Dalal Minister for Agriculture Haryana and Randeep Singh Nabha Agriculture Minister of Punjab were the Guest of honour. Besides the vice chancellers of four universities, Director Agriculture Kashmir , representatives of Agriculture Industry and Policy makers of Agriculture and Fisheries Department from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal were also present.
On this occasion, Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal gave a detailed overview of agriculture scenario of Kashmir Valley. Director Agriculture highlighted the initiatives taken by the Department for the promotion of traditional and exotic vegetables, women and youth empowerment, introduction and promotion of organic way of cultivation, promotion of spices like black zeera ,saffron etc, strengthening of small scale industries like mushroom, apiculture, bringing new areas under oilseed, ornamental and medicinal crops, providing the farmers with new marketing modals in and outside of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and on the international platform. Director Agriculture also reiterated the Department’s commitment for the socio economic transformation of the farming community. Director Agriculture Kashmir also apprised the august gathering about the steps and interventions taken by the Department amid impact of global change on the agriculture sector.
It is in place to mention that Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Department Kashmir is working on some innovative plans to add new dimensions to the ever changing agriculture sector.
