DM Ang launches ‘Clean Anantnag’ campaign, issues prohibitory orders against defacement of Public Property

ANANTNAG: The District Magistrate (DM) Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla issued prohibitory orders under Section-144 to prevent defacement of public property.
As per the orders issued, there is rampant defacement of public property/ public utility in the district by way of writing or marking by ink, chalk, print and other material. Hoardings have been installed on chinar trees and at other unauthorised places.
The DM has ordered that all concerned institutional heads/ office incharges of the building shall ensure that all such material is removed from the building.
District Floriculture Officer was directed to remove hoardings and advertisements from the chinars immediately.
All advertising agencies/ commercial authorities that have erected hoardings/ banners unauthorizedly shall take these down within a period of seven days.
Dr Singla said that unauthorized installation of hoardings/ advertisements on public property is a crime under law and violators will be taken to account. He said that commercial interests cannot be carried out at the cost of damage to public property. He said that anybody found violating the order after expiry of one week will have to face the music.
The defaulters have been given a one week notice to implement the order failing which penal action shall be initiated without further notice.
