First Laparoscopic TEP Hernia Surgery done at SDH Pampore

PAMPORE: Doctors at Sub district hospital Pampore performed a first ever Laparosopic Totally Extra Peritoneal (TEP) Hernia repair surgery.
Such a procedure is usually done in a tertiary care hospital or at a district hospital.
“ At SDH level it was done for the first time,” doctors at SDH told Kashmir Reader.
They added “Driven by the motto of delivering quality services despite limited resources, first ever Laparoscopic Totally Extra Peritoneal (TEP) hernia repair surgery was performed in Sub district hospital (SDH) Pampore on a middle aged patient with right Indirect inguinal hernia by surgical team comprised of senior Surgeons Dr Irshad Kuchay, Dr Yaqoob and Dr Nawab with assistance from Senior theatre supervisor Nisar Ahmad Khanday and his team.
The surgery would not have seen light of day without active support of dynamic Anaesthesia team lead by Dr Tajamul Hussain and his team. Also special thanks to Block Medical Officer Dr Asima Nazir and Resident Medical Officer Dr Mohammad Ashraf for providing all the logistics and support.”
Dr Mohammad Yaqoob told Kashmir reader that the said patient with Inguinal hernia reported to SDH Pampore, after evaluation he was operated by laparoscopy successfully and discharged from the hospital uneventfully the following day. He said, besides this Surgery, other minimally invasive procedures are routinely being done in SDH Pampore.
