Birla Open Minds School Pampore Celebrated BOMIS Arbor day

PAMPORE: Birla Open Minds International School Pampore Celebrated BOMIS Arbor day in collaboration with the Department of Social Forestry on Tuesday at Galander Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.
Mahraj-ud-Din Malik Regional Director Social Forestry Kashmir was the chief guest on the occasion.
Manzoor Ahmad Bhat DFO, Social Forestry, Pulwama, Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din Tehsildar Pampore, Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad SDPO Pampore, A A Mir Chairman BML Welfare Trust, G M Lone General Secretary BML Welfare Trust, Shiekh Gayas- Ud-Din, Campus Director BOMIS Manzoor Ahmad Wangoo, Chairman Bilaliya Educational Institute Dr. Raja Muzafar, Social Activist, Wasim Farooq Mir OSD to Chief Secretary and Younis Nisar Mir (Trustee ) BML welfare trust was the guest of honours.
The chief guest and guest of honours speak on the importance of trees in sustaining life on the earth. They highlighted the role of trees.
During the programme plantation drive held in the premises of School, a number of saplings were planted by Chief guest and guests. They marked the saplings with their name plates.
Teachers, staff members of the school also took part in the drive. “The Birla Open Minds International school Pampore management has decided to plant a minimum 15000 plants in the school campus,” General Secretary Birla Minds Welfare Trust, Sheikh Gayas-u-Din told Kashmir Reader.
He said it was in this context that they had requested the social forestry department who provided hundreds of saplings of Deodar and other varieties.
“You can see that some plants have been planted in the campus but as students were not available today so only staff members and other officials took part in the plantation, in future we plan that each of our students will at least plant one sampling because plants are stores of oxygen and guaranteed supply of food,” he said.
