Quality Seed Distribution Programme held at KVK Anantnag

Srinagar: A Mega function was held at KVK Anantnag in which 15 Quintals of Wheat seeds and 4 quintal of Oats was distributed among the tribal farmers of the district Anantnag in which Director Extension Prof Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi was the chief guest.
Seed dimension program is part of All India Agriculture coordinated research Project for quality seed production and distribution and National seed production department (NSP) units working under the SKUAST-K.
Prof. Dil Mohammad Makdhoomi welcomed the tribal farmers and acquitted with propagation of wheat in area which would help the farmers in getting double crop in one season i.e. Wheat followed by Pulses, where there is still a single crop system going on.
The University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology of Kashmir strived the program of propagation of KG-2 variety of Maize which was developed by (NSP) of SKUAST-K and distributed during the last season.
This has revolutionized the maize crop in the region for which tribal farmers and General Secretary of tribal farmers union expressed happiness and thanked university Vice Chancellor Prof. J.P Sharma. KG2 variety Maize for this high altitude area on the occasion a water facility was inaugurated at the hands of Director Extension SKUAST-K who was accompanied by Professor Zahoor Ahmad Dar, Dr Aflaq and Dr. Gowhar seed scientist along with Dr. Saleem Khuru, Dr Zahida of DARs Budgam.
