Khanqah Bagh, New Colony residents demand macadamisation of road

PAMPORE: Residents of Khankahbagh new colony locality of Saffron town Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district have appealed authorities for repairing and macadamisation of an important link road.
Majid Ahmad, a local of New colony told Kashmir Reader that an important link road near Kongposh hospital has been in dilapidated condition for the last 3 years.
” Three years ago it was a fine road but the water works department laid some pipes due to which the road was damaged,” he said.
He added that they raised the issue of repairment and macadamisation of this road in a back to village programme and they were assured that the road will be taken care of very soon.
” Last year we were told that the road will be macadamised next season but that didn’t not happen,” he said, adding that it has become troublesome for commuters to tread on it.
Haji Mohammad Shafi Nath of Khankahbag New Colony told Kashmir Reader that due to the bad condition of the road they find it very difficult to ferry patients to Kongposh hospital.
” We appeal to authorities for macadamisation of this road so that we don’t have to suffer in winter,” he said.
Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Roads and Building (R&B) Pampore, Mushtaq Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that for the town only 2.45 kilometers road length was approved for macadamisation for this year. He said that they macadamised 4 kilometers.
” The Khankahbag was not in the current year plan, we will put it in next year’s work plan,” he said.
