Sopore: The body of a 20 years old shepherd youth who was drowned in river Jhelum a week ago, retrieved on Tuesday, officials said. They said that Nazir Ahmad Chechi 20 son of Mohammad Yousuf Chechi resident of Panaar Bandipora was drowned in river Jhelum near Seer Jageer area of Sopore on 13th of October, and a rescue operation was launched to fishout the body soon after the accident.
Some people spotted the body floating in the river some two kilometres away from the accident site and they informed local police, who reached the spot and retrieved the body. The body was later handed over to his family after all legal formalities.
Meanwhile, police fished out a dead body of an unidentified youth from the NHPC water reservoir in Boniyar, area of Uri and shifted it to GMC Baramulla for examination and identification. Police said that they were informed that a body was floating in the water and later it was retrieved.
