Srinagar: Police have arrested a drug peddler in Anantnag and recovered a huge quantity of contraband substances from his possession.
Police Station Bijbehara received specific information that a person namely Mudasir Ahmad Ganie son of Abdul Ahad Ganie resident of Kandipora Bijbehara has indulged in drug peddling and has hoarded a huge quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house.
On receipt of this information, a Police party under the supervision of SDPO Bijbehara alongwith Executive Magistrate raided the specific location. During the search, officers were able to recover 1.1Kg of Charas and 52Kgs of Cannabis leaves from the said residential house. He has been arrested and shifted to a police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 268/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Bijbehara and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
