7 days Skill Development Training for Rural Youth concluded at SKUAST-Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Two Training Programmes on Skill Development for Rural Youth (STRY) were concluded today on 18th September, 2021. Vice Chancellor, Prof. J.P. Sharma was Chief Guest on the occasion of the valedictory function and Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi was Guest of Honour. The programmes were also attended by Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganie, Director Planning & Monitoring and Prof. Shabir Ahmad Wani, Dean Horticulture, SKUAST-K. The programmes were conducted by the Directorate of Extension in collaboration with the Division of Vegetable Sciences, SKUAST-K and MANAGE, Hyderabad. In all the two training programmes 30 rural youth (15 each training) were given hands-on training on Advanced Techniques in Quality Planting Material Production of Vegetable Crops and Protected Cultivation.
Prof. J.P. Sharma stressed that all the trainings were of utmost importance and are the need of the hour for boosting the moral of youth and getting the training for generating the income and livelihood for unemployed rural youth. He also stressed on different schemes and policies offering subsidies given to the farmers and advised trainees to take advantage of the schemes. Vice Chancellor also deliberated on the need and importance of Soil Health Card and suggested the farmers on the judicial use of fertilizers keeping in view the environmental concerns. Director Extension, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi in his address highlighted the need and importance of certificate courses on Integrated Nutrient Management and stressed upon the maintenance and promotion of organic status.
At the end of the valedictory session, all the participants were given certificates for their respective trainings
