Rs 10,400 fine realized during marketing checking at Pampore

Pampore: The administration carried out a market checking drive in the Saffron town Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.
During the checking amount of Rs 10,400 was fined from various shopkeepers, besides huge quantities of rotten vegetables were destroyed on the spot.
Officials told Kashmir Reader that on the directions of Assistant Director Food Civil and Consumer Affairs Pulwama, the team of Enforcement headed by the Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) Pampore Ayash Farooq and District market checking square headed by TSO Abdul Rashid Khan has conducted market checking in the Saffron town Pampore. Various business units including Kiryana, bakery shops, mutton shops, chicken and vegetable vendors were checked during inspection huge quantity of rotted vegetable ,expired spices and sweets were found in the shops and destroyed on spot in presence of the shopkeepers by the team and accordingly imposed fine to the tune of rupees ten thousand and four hundred from the erring shopkeepers onspot, officials said.
The shop keepers also were warned not to keep expired items in their establishments, otherwise strict action shall be initiated under Essential commodities Act 1955.
The general public also appealed before buying the items to check out the expiry and manufactured date of the item, he said.
