Wildlife department conduct search for tracking leopard in Balhama Srinagar

PAMPORE: Wildlife department officials on Wednesday launched a search operation to trap a leopard spotted in Balhama area of Srinagar outskirts.
A massive hunt has been launched by wildlife department Range Khrew at Balhama area of Srinagar outskirts after wildlife officials received information regarding the presence of a leopard in the area, officials told Kashmir Reader.
Wildlife Ranger Khurshid Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that on Wednesday morning they received information from locals of Balhama regarding the presence of the leopard in the area and a team of wildlife experts immediately rushed to the spot with tranquiliser guns to capture the leopard.
He said that a cage has been installed.
” We are hopeful that the leopard will be captured soon.”
He advised people of the areas to cooperate with them and follow the already issued advisory.
“Four cages have been installed in four areas of the range including at Meej, Wuyan,Khrew and Balhama,” Ranger officer Khurshid Ahmad said, adding that their team is working round the clock.
