Bear attacks youth in Sopore, another gets locked in Kupwara

SOPORE: A youth was injured in a bear attack in the outskirts of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday afternoon.
Family sources of youth said that Mubashir Ahmad Hajam son of Mushtaq Ahmad Hajam of Watlab Sopore was working at their fields when a black bear attacked and injured him, before the beast was chased by other people working in the fields.
They said that the injured was immediately shifted to sub-district hospital Sopore where he was later shifted to Srinagar for advanced treatment.
Meanwhile, a black bear was locked inside a poultry shop in Taratpora area of Kupwara Wednesday afternoon.
Locals said that a black bear was spotted in the Taratpora area of Kupwara on Wednesday after it entered a poultry shop of a local Abdul Gani Teeli and killed scores of chickens inside the shop.
At the time some people closed the shop and locked the beast inside the shop and they also informed the wildlife department.
The people were waiting for wildlife officials when this report was filled.
