Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir holds certificate course on fertilizers

Srinagar: A 15 days Short-term Certificate Course for Fertilizers Input and Prospective Dealers on Integrated Nutrient Management begins at Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir. The function was inaugurated by Prof J. P. Sharma Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir through virtual online mode.
The function was co-chaired by Professor Dil Mohmad Makhdoomi, Director Extension/ SAMETI, SKUAST-K, and inaugural session of the programme was attended by Professor Sarfaraz Ahmad Wani, Director Research, Professor M. N. Khan, Director Education, Professor N. A. Ganiae Director Planning and Monitoring, Professor Gul Zaffar Registrar SKUAST-K, Prof Naveed Qaisar, Controller Examinations, Scientists of Directorate of Extension and 30 participants of Certificate Course from district Pulwama, Anantnag and Kulgam.
Professor Dil Mohmad Makhdoomi, Director Extension in his inaugural address deliberated on the need and importance of Certificate Course and assured the participants of providing the best learning platform during the different sessions of the Certificate Course through able and experienced Scientific Staff of the SKUAST-Kashmir. He further stressed that the organizers should give a practical exposure to bacteria and other biological agents used in the nutrient management and should demonstrate to the participants how to draw a soil sample from the field and its submission to necessary quarters for getting soil health card.
Professor Gul Zaffar Registrar, SKUAST-K congratulated Director Extension for Organizing the Certificate Course despite covid-19 pandemic. He laid stress on judicious use of nutrients for increasing the production. Prof Gul Zaffer apprised about ill effects of application of excess doses of fertilizers and stressed that complete awareness about the proper use of fertilizers be given to the farmers who are the customers of the University in real sense. The on campus stay of participants has been made mandatory under all covid-19 safety precautions.
The inaugural function concluded with a vote of thanks to the dignitaries of the University, participants of the program and press and media personnel.
