Pampore: The wildlife department Range Khrew has issued an advisory for people of Meej and adjoining villages that should avoid tending their fields alone, children and women should avoid venturing out from their houses in early morning and evening hours.
The advisory was issued after a leopard and two cubs were spotted in the area.
A Wild life Official, Mir Khurshid Ahmad appealed residents of Meej to cooperate with the department by sticking to the advisory.
He appealed to them not to complicate job of wildlife officials by resorting to hooting.
Wildlife department launched a search operation after locals spotted a leopard along with two cubs in the Meej area of Pampore.
Wildlife officials told Kashmir Reader that they received information from locals of Meej regarding the presence of a leopard and two cubs in the area.
On Thursday evening a call was received that a leopard along with two cubs were roaming in Meej area, immediately a rescue team reached the spot and the spotted two Cubs and launched a search operation to trap the wild animals, a cage has been also installed in the area, we believe that mother of the Cubs will around in the nearby area and a trap was set to catch her, a Range officer Wild official Khursheed Ahmad told Kashmir Reader.
