RAMBAN: Continuing the crackdown on traffic rules and Covid protocol violators, Motor Vehicle Department Ramban today conducted massive checking of passenger vehicles in Magarkote, Ukhral, Neel, Kharia, Mahu and other adjoining areas of Banihal Sub-division.
Over 200 vehicles were checked during the drive out of which 24 were chalaned/fined for violations like overcharging, overloading, plying without documents, over speeding, etc. On the spot fine of Rs 18000 was recovered from the drivers indulging in violations of rules.
The Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Ramban, Shafqat Majid also seized 2 vehicles during the checking drive.
He also sensitized the drivers about Motor Vehicles Act and Rules and directed them to follow these rules strictly. Issues of the general public raised by their local representatives were also addressed through meetings with public representatives.
