Islamia College, CDI sign MoU for professional support

Srinagar: A memorandum of understanding was signed on Wednesday by Nazim Khan, Secretary Skill Development Department/Director Craft Development Institute and Prof.(Dr.)Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Principal, Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Srinagar in presence of Dr.Zahoor Ahmad Jhat, Convenor, Innovation and Incubation Centre, Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Srinagar, Dr.Yasir Ahmad Mir, Faculty CDI, Srinagar and Sheikh Ashiq, President, KCCI (Member, Executive Committee CDI).
The objective of the MOU envisages infrastructural support and services of skillful personnel and mentoring of novel ideas in the field of handicrafts, their design element and value additions by CDI Srinagar to such idea holders and aspiring entrepreneurs among students of this college and the students of our allied spoke Colleges of district Bandipora and Ganderbal. Besides, the MOU envisages providing service and support to the local population of old city Srinagar in the field of handicrafts, their design element and value additions.
The signing of MOU is an effort by the College in the direction for creating a vibrant and conducive ecosystem for incubating innovative ideas of our students and the niche target group and handhold them to convert these ideas into start-ups and work in close coordination with the CDI to achieve the above-mentioned goal.
The MOU is very important and will not only go a long way in providing good incubation space to innovative idea holders, our students and our niche target group will also help in providing institutional mechanisms for making available various services for incubating innovative idea holders in handicrafts.
