Swarnim Vijay Varsh Victory Mashaal reaches Baramulla

Srinagar: The ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh Victory Mashaal’, symbolic of 50 years of India’s 1971 War Victory over Pakistan reached Baramulla where it was given a grand reception with a wreath laying ceremony held at the Dagger War Memorial.

With two days of events, the victory flame will pass to PirPanjal Brigade for its onward journey. The complete event was conducted abiding to strict COVID-19 protocols saw a variety of cultural programmes were organised to mark the event which included patriotic songs by school children, bhangra, rouf dance & performances by renowned artists followed by felicitation of veer naris and veterans.

Speaking to the media persons, Maj Gen Virendra Vats, SM, VSM , GOC, 19 Inf Div remembered the sacrifices of War veterans, veer naris and Ex Service Men who made this event possible by their benign presence.

On 16 December 2020, Narendra Modi, Prime Minister, lighted the ‘Swarnim Vijay Mashaal’ from the hallowed and the eternal flame of National War Memorial that marked the commencement of this Golden Jubilee Year.

Four such Mashaals are travelling in the four cardinal directions, reaching the remotest corners of the nation to include villages of our valiant and intrepid warriors who participated in the war. One of these Mashaals entered Kashmir valley on 16 Jun 2021 and reached baramulla on 27th Jun 2021.

The event was attended by prominent civil dignitaries which included prominent public representatives, govt officials, Paramilitary forces, J & K Police and large number of local population.
