Withholding salaries of medicos for not fulfilling vaccination target unfortunate: DAK

Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) in a statement showed its resentment and anguishness over the order issued by DC Srinagar in which directions have been passed for withholding the salaries of two Zonal Medical Officers.
Dr Basharat H Shah -DAK District President Srinagar termed this order unfortunate and urged the Government to revoke this order. He said doctors have been made scapegoats of the broken system and clarified that doctors are playing their part to the best of their abilities amidst the limited resources and at times in hostile conditions. He further said, Administration and the Information Department can play a bigger role in creating awareness amongst the masses and in implementing the vaccination programme.
Dr Owais H Dar, Gen. Secretary-DAK said that Doctors Association Kashmir via different mediums has appealed people time and again to go for mass vaccination as it is quite effective, safe and the only tool which provides immunity against the deadly Virus. He said Doctors have started door to door movement for vaccination but ultimately they have no authority to pressurise common people as it is beyond the competence of doctors. Even examples are being given by Various High Courts outside Jammu and Kashmir for best Vaccination campaign being undertaken by Health Dept. of J&K.
Dr Imtiyaz Banday-Spokesperson DAK, while urging to revoke this unwarranted order said that such orders act as demoralising agents amid pandemic. When doctors should be incentivised for their hard work and dedication, they are being penalised unnecessarily for everything.
Doctors Association Kashmir requested FC HME, Atal Dullo and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, PK Pole to intervene in this matter on urgent basis so that needless victimisation of Doctors be stopped to keep the morale of the fraternity very high.
