Bear killed in a road accident in Handwara

HANDWARA: A brown bear was killed in a road mishap in Warpora village of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday morning. Officials in the wildlife department said that following an information a team of wildlife department recovered the body of a brown bear in Warpora Rajwar Handwara who might have died after being hit by any vehicle on Thursday night.
They said that they recovered the body and buried it in a forest area after all legal formalities. They said that a case has been also registered in a nearby police station and further investigation is on.
There are black and brown bears in north Kashmir forests but the population of black bears is more then brown bears.
