Fire causes massive damage to Girls High School Kakapora

Pampore: Building of a government high school was damaged in a fire incident in Kakapora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday night.
Officials told Kashmir Reader that fire broke out in a government girls high school building in Kakapora on Tuesday late night at 01 am which damaged the building.
Later, fire tenders from Kakapora and fire Service Station Pampore were rushed to spot and dosed the flames. However, the building suffered extensive damage, they said adding the cause of fire was not known.
“Fire broke out in the government high School at Kakapora area, resulting in damage to the building,” ZEO Kakapora, Ghulam Rasool Magray, told Kashmir Reader.
The Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) told Kashmir Reader that the main building suffered severe damage.
“Some documents which were saved by the courtesy of Fire and emergency services, their personnel rushed to douse the flames and saved records in the Headmaster’s office,” he said ,adding that eight rooms in the main building suffered damage.
” Fifteen solar panels and fifteen batteries, games equipment and library items were destroyed” he told Kashmir Reader, adding that three rooms and a kitchen shed which stand at a distance from the main building are safe.
He said that the fire was witnessed on the intervening night of April 6 and 7 at about 1 o’clock in the morning.”The cause of fire could not be confirmed,”he said.
Kakapora police has taken cognizance in the case and started investigation.
