Pampore: The Jammu and Kashmir Police booked a notorious drug peddler of Pampore, who was arrested from the Pampore area a couple of weeks ago, under Public Safety Act (PSA).
Firdous Ahmad Mir @ Fira Codeine, son of Ghulam Hassan, a resident of Kadlabal Pampore was arrested by Awantipora police on December 07 along with a contraband substance: heroin, 25 bottles of Codeine Phosphate syrup. A cash of Rupees 22,000 was also recovered from the possession.
Police recently arrested one notorious drug peddler along with contraband substance for which case FIR. No 98/2020 Stands registered at Police Station Pampore.
“Being involved in many drug related cases Firdous Ahmad Mir @Fira Codeine has been booked under Public Safety Act on Saturday,” SDPO Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad told Kashmir Reader.
The police have launched a drive against drug peddlers in the last one month when many notorious drug dealers were arrested.
The police has appealed to the general public of Pampore,Awantpora, Tral and Khrew to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood.
SSP Awantipora Tahir Saleem told Kashmir Reader they will take a strong action against drug peddlers in the area.
“No drug peddler will be let go off in Police district Awantipora,” he said, adding that police are apprehending one or two peddlers on a daily basis and the drive will continue till the menace is uprooted from Awantipora.
Around 109 persons were arrested in drug related cases during this year and 55 FIRs were registered in district police Awantipora, he said.
Civil society and prominent residents of Saffron town Pampore have appreciated the police district Awantipora for acting strictly against drug peddlers.
