Pampore: Senior Superintendent of Police, Awantipora Tahir Saleem Friday inaugurated volleyball tournament at Azad Stadium Khrew area of Pampore.
The tournament is organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police district Awantipora in collaboration with Khrew Sports Forum.
Around eight local teams are taking part in the tournament.
Speaking on the inaugural function SSP Tahir Saleem asserted that Jammu and Kashmir Police would provide aspiring sportspersons with all kinds of support and infrastructure.
He also distributed sports items and uniform among the players and organizers.
He was accompanied by SDPO Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad and SHO Khrew Zahoor Ahmad.
Speaking on the sidelines of the function SSP Tahir Saleem stated that on government’s directions Jammu and Kashmir Police will continue holding sports tournaments so that the youth get ample opportunity to showcase their talent.
“After this tournament, we are planning a cricket and football tournament so that players from Pampore, Khrew and adjoining areas get a platform to exhibit their talent. We will continue to boost the sports activities in the area,” he said.
