BARAMULLA: A man was injured by a black bear in north Kashmir’s Handwara area of Kupwara district on Wednesday. Official sources said that Wali Mohammad Sheikh ,60,son of Habibullah Sheikh resident of Dolipora Villgam Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district was attacked by a black bear near his house Wednesday morning when he was going towards his fields.
The people shifted the injured person to nearby hospital, from where he was shifted to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment. They said a team from the wildlife department reached the spot and they installed a cage to capture of black bear.
Range officer wildlife department Handwara Naseer Ahmad Rawa confirmed that a man was received injuries in a bear attack, he said a cage has been installed and hope we will catch the beast in the next two days.
He advised people living close to forest areas and orchards not to venture outside alone during morning and evening hours.
