Police attach properties in Srinagar, Kulgam
Srinagar: In a concerted effort to dismantle the financial backbone of illegal activities, Jammu and Kashmir Police have taken significant action across Srinagar and Kulgam districts, targeting assets linked to narcotics trafficking and unlawful activities under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan and 100 Days Campaign.
In a major crackdown, Srinagar Police have attached immovable properties worth approximately ₹1.05 crore belonging to two notorious drug peddlers. The properties, identified under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, include a residential house and a land parcel, both acquired illegally through drug trafficking.
The properties belong to Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh of Tujgari Mohalla, Nowhatta, and Bilal Ahmad Kand of Kand Mohalla, Rainawari. Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh’s three-storeyed residence on five marlas of land at Tujgari Mohalla, valued at around ₹65 lakh, was attached in connection with FIR No. 59/2019, and he is also implicated in FIR No. 11/2018 and FIR No. 41/2021. Similarly, Bilal Ahmad Kand’s property comprising five marlas of land and a temporary structure, valued at approximately ₹40 lakh, was attached under FIR No. 36/2022.
The action underscores the authorities’ resolve to target assets accumulated through illicit narcotics trade, sending a strong message that crime will not pay and that illegally acquired assets will be confiscated.
Meanwhile, in Kulgam, police, in collaboration with the Revenue Department, attached a residential property valued at about ₹1 crore in Tungdnoo, belonging to Tariq Ahmad. The property was seized as part of ongoing efforts to curb unlawful activities and dismantle criminal infrastructure.
These actions reflect the steadfast commitment of J&K Police to uphold the rule of law, eradicate drug menace, and ensure that proceeds of crime are effectively confiscated. Authorities have urged the public to continue cooperating by sharing information on illegal activities, assuring that informants’ identities will remain confidential.
The law enforcement agencies reaffirm their dedication to maintaining peace and security in the Union Territory and continue to pursue stringent legal measures against offenders.
