Driver who killed two women in Rafiabad on Tuesday, arrested

BARAMULLA: The driver of a passenger vehicle who hit and killed two women in Rafiabad area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday afternoon and escaped from the spot has been arrested by the police on Wednesday morning.
Officials said a hit and run case was already registered against the driver when he escaped from the spot after hitting two women pedestrians on Tuesday afternoon. He said the vehicle was already seized by the police soon after the accident and a hunt to arrest the fled driver was started. On Wednesday morning the police held the driver, however police did not disclose the identity of the driver.
On Tuesday afternoon a four wheeler cab hit two pedestrian women near the Hadipora area of Rafiabad on Baramulla-Handwara road, resulting in the death of both the ladies with the driver of the vehicle who escaping from the spot. The deceased women were identified as Saleema wife of Bashir Ahmad Mir and Fatima wife of Mohammad Yousuf Mir residents of Hadipora Rafiabad Baramulla.
