CUK VC inaugurates 2-week research methodology workshop

Ganderbal: Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, Tuesday inaugurated the two week long online Research Methodology Workshop for the disciplines of Business Studies and Social Sciences at Green Campus of the varsity here.
Prof. Abdul Gani, Head, Department of Management Studies, Prof. G M Bhat, Director Research and Development, Prof. Farooq A Shah, Dean, School of Business, Prof. Fayaz A Nika, Finance Officer and faculty members were also present during the inaugural function.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir described research as the backbone of the higher educational institutions and adopting of good research methodology an important component of the quality research. “The universities across the world are not known by infrastructure or the number of programmes they offer, but by the quality of research they produce every year,” Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir remarked. He lauded the Department for organizing the workshop and advised the research scholars to learn and take benefit from the highly experienced experts who will be delivering online lectures during these 14 days. Addressing the inaugural session, Prof. Abdul Gani highlighted the importance of holding such workshops an assured regular conduct of these workshops in future. He said that in view of huge response of the participants from various State, Central universities and research institutions through the length and breadth of the country, the participation was restricted to only current Management and Social Sciences research scholars. “All the core issues in research methodology are being covered during the workshop,” he said adding that eminent experts from IIMs, IITs, Central and State Universities and TISS have been roped in as resource persons for the workshop.
Director Research and Development, Prof. G M Bhat congratulated the Department of Management Studies for organizing the workshop. He said that despite challenges arising due to Covid pandemic, the department has been successful in holding the workshop for the research scholars across the country. Prof Bhat said that research methodology is the core of any research and those intending to pursue research in any subject should first focus on its methodology.
Dean School of Business Studies, Prof. Farooq A Shah while speaking on the occasion said the higher educational institutions around the world are ranked by their research output. He said the workshop would help the budding researchers and those already pursuing it in a long way.
Finance Officer, Prof. Fayaz A Nikka while addressing the session said the basic aim of the research is to lift the veil from things hidden in the nature. Prof. Nika said the research conducted by prestigious institutions have changed the way of life for the people across the world, adding that the research scholars need proper sensitization before they start working in their respective areas of research.
Sr Assistant Prof, R. Mushtaq A Lone conducted the programme proceedings while as Sr. Assistant Prof Dr. Zia ul Haq proposed the vote of thanks.
