Shopian family seeks cyber police help to trace lost money

Shopian: Father of five daughters who sold his cows for daughter’s wedding was duped by unknown online fraudsters on August 10 with his account getting deducted of rupees one lakh, with the family now appealing help from cyber police Kashmir to track down the fraudsters .
According to Ghulam Ahmad Dar, a resident of Pahnoo village of Shopian district, he received a call on August 10 from an unknown number who introduced himself as a banker.
“An unknown caller approached me on August 10 and asked me to share his OTP, with the result I instantly lost one lakh rupee which I had collected for my daughter’s wedding”, said Ghulam Ahmad.
Dar, who is father of five daughters, said that he has sold a few animals to assemble money for his daughter’s wedding but unfortunately it was destined for something else.
“I request Shopian police to help me to get my cash back so that I can arrange the expenses of my daughter’s wedding,” he added.
Earlier J&K Cyber Police Unit had appealed to the general public to not share their personal bank details to unknown persons, after several frauds were reported in the Valley.
