Drangbal man dies of Covid at SKIMS, toll mounts to 14 in medical block Pampore

17 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Pampore Medical Block

PAMPORE: An elderly Covid-19 patient from Saffron town Pampore in south Kashmir died at SKIMS Soura Srinagar on Friday.
Medical Officer Sub District Hospital Pampore Dr Mohammad Ashraf told Kashmir Reader that an elderly man, 85, a resident of Drangbal area of Pampore, was reported in the hospital on 12 of August and his test for COVID-19 turned positive . The medical officer added that he was reffered to SKIMS on August 14 where he died on Friday.
With this the death toll due to the virus in the medical block Pampore touched 14 and it was 5th death in Saffron town Pampore due to COVID-19 so far. “COVID-19 is a dreaded infectious disease, so my appeal to people is to protect yourself from this disease,” Dr Ashraf said, adding that the death rate due to the disease is mounting in Kashmir.
The deceased was buried in his ancestral graveyard following SOPs on COVID -19 under supervision, few of his family persons were allowed to participate in his last rites.
Meanwhile, 17 new cases of Covid-19 were reported from Medical Block Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.
Medical Officer Pampore Dr Mohammad Ashraf told Kashmir Reader that 17 new and 6 repeated cases have been reported from different villages in Pampore medical block.
He said that out of the new cases 5 are from Pampore, 4 being members of a single family, 5 are from Kakapora, Pampore, Awantipora and other areas.
