Srinagar: Militants escaped after a brief exchange of gunfire with government forces in Litter area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.
Local sources said at around 3 am they heard gunshots, which continued for about 15 minutes and later whole area was cordoned off by the government forces.
They added that cordon and search operation continued for about 4 hours and later it ended peacefully.
Earlier the area was cordoned-off by government forces after receiving specific inputs about the movement of militants in the area.
A police official while confirming the exchange of fire between militants and government forces in the area said that militants managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness.
