Explosives found outside CRPF camp in Rajouri

Rajouri: Government forces on Wednesday claimed to have recovered three bags of explosives outside a CRPF camp in Rajouri district’s Sunderbani following which schools have been ordered to be closed by the district administration as a precautionary measure.

Official sources said that a sentry of a CRPF camp at Sodra in Sunderbani area opened some warning shots and raised an alarm soon after he detected some suspicious movement near the paramilitary camp.

SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas said that following the suspicious movement, a joint team of forces including CRPF, police, and army launched searches in the area.

“During the searches, three bags with ammunition and explosive material have been recovered so far from the spot,” SSP who is leading the operation said.

PRO CRPF Ashish Kumar Jha said that no such attack was carried out by the militants on the paramilitary camp in Sunderbani. However, he said that the alert troops detected some suspicious movement and the search operation which was launched to trace out them is underway.

“A news about the attack on CRPF camp in Sunderbani today (28th Mar) morning is being aired in media. It is clarified that no such incident has happened and all the CRPF troops in Sunderbani are fine,” the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Shahid Iqbal Choudary ordered the closure of all the educational institutions in Sunderbani sector in wake of the search operation.

“The schools shall remain closed in the Sunderbani division today as a precautionary measure,” DC Rajouri confirmed to GNS. (GNS)
