Srinagar: Militants on Friday morning escaped after a brief gunfight at Palhallan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Official sources said that the operation at Palhallan has concluded today after a brief gunfight with government forces and militants amid Stone-pelting in the area.
Earlier, scores of youth took to streets and clashed with forces soon after the news about the gunfight spread in the area. The police and Para-military CRPF used teargas shells to disperse the protesters.
Meanwhile, source said that the militants believed to be locals managed to break the forces’ cordon.
A police officer had said that the operation was launched today wee hours following inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.
