Srinagar: Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler with contraband substance in Sumbal area of Bandipora district.

A spokesman of police said that Sumbal police under the supervision of SDPO Sumbal Sheikh Tahir Amin accompanied by SHO Sumbal Parvaiz Ahmed placed a Naka at Rakh Asham & intercepted a Maruti vehicle bearing registration no. DL2CZ-3778.

During checking / frisking 700 grams of charas(powder) was recovered from the possession of the driver namely Abdul Hamid son of Sana-ul-lah Malla resi dent of Markundal Sumbal. Case FIR No. 15/2018 was registered and investigations taken up, the official added.
