Army foils infiltration bid in North Kashmir

Srinagar: The Indian Army Thursday claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid in North Kashmir’s Tangdhar Sector, reports said.

According to the defense sources, the militants were successfully repulsed by the army troops during the early hours of Thursday.

“An attempted infiltration bid by Pak militants was successfully repulsed by alert Army troops in Tangdhar Sector in North Kashmir during the early hours of 31 Jan 2018”.

A statement from the army said that a group of four militants attempted to infiltrate under the cover of darkness and thick jungles in the mountainous terrain in general area of Kalban in Tangdhar but were spotted by alert troops.

“They were engaged with heavy fire and terrorists were seen running away into the thick jungles towards the Line of Control,” the statement added.

They added that the search operations in the sector were launched and currently in progress.
