Students pour out on roads, stage protest against KU officials

Alleging delay in semester examination students of Government Degree College Kargil today staged a protest against Kashmir University Administration.

Thousands of students’ started a protest march from College campus and marched through bus stand and concluded the protest at Laal Chowk Kargil.

“The protesting students were raising slogans against the university authorities and local administration,” eyewitnesses said.

A College Student Najma Mehdi said that the students are in 4th semester and almost three years have elapsed and their degree courses are yet to be completed.

 “Three years have passed and we are studying in 4th semester,” she said.

The protesters said that since the last four years their semester exams and results are not being conducted on time. Due to this attitude of the KU authorities the students are suffering.

The students were demanding the intervention of the vice chancellor in the matter.

Pertinently, the representative of Islamia School Kargil and Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust also extended their support to the protesting students.

Speaking to the gathering Maulana Abbas Karrari Vice Chairman IKMT said that the local leaders should take up the issue with the concern authorities. He said that IKMT is always behind the students and will ensure that their rights are secured.
