Ensure speedy completion of developmental works in Srinagar city: Singh

Keeping in view the stipulated timelines and the necessary environmental concerns, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh Wednesday directed the officers to expedite developmental initiatives undertaken in the Srinagar city.

According to the statement, Dr. Singh was interacting with officers during his extensive tour of the Srinagar city to take stock of the developmental initiatives undertaken in the Housing and Urban Development sector. He also inspected the Rakh-e-Arth colony and the Achan dumping site.

The Deputy Chief Minister during his inspection of the Rakh-e-Arth Housing Colony coming up for the settlement of Dal dwellers directed the officers to ensure that the colony is completed in all respects within the shortest possible time

“The government is committed to their proper rehabilitation and the colony coming up would be replete with all the modern amenities of housing and urban living,” the statement said.

Dr. Singh later inspected the Achan land dumping site and directed the officers to speed up the pace of work on the Solid Waste Management Plant (SWMP) being constructed there for the effective management of solid waste.

“He directed the officers of Srinagar Municipal Corporation to ensue the installation of segregation machine by 29th of this month so that the plant can be made functional by 31st May and then commissioned,” statement added.

The Deputy Chief Minister while interacting with these deputations said that the government has already undertaken a comprehensive developmental programme to ensure that the twin cities of Jammu and Srinagar come up as models with all the modern facilities of urban living. He said that the necessary instruction have already been passed to the concerned to ensure the timely completion of these developmental and welfare schemes. 

He was accompanied by the Commissioner Secretary Housing and Urban Development, Hirdesh Kumar Singh, Vice Chairman LAWWDA, Mr Tehseem Mustafa, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Dr Shafqat and other senior officers.
