Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been placed under house arrest at his Nigeen residence by the government forces, sources said.
Hurriyat (M) spokesperson, Shahid-ul-Islam, said that Mirwaiz was placed under house arrest to prevent him from leading the protest demonstration after Friday prayers in downtown Srinagar.
Pertinently the joint resistance leadership had called for protests after congregational prayers today against the use of force on civilians in Shopian district during yesterday’s anti-militancy operation.
