Govt plans to develop Siard Baba shrine temple as tourist site

The District administration Reasi has decided to develop and project Saird Baba Shrine as pilgrim tourist destination.

District Development Commissioner Reasi Ravinder Kumar today visited the site to initiate several measures to develop the place as pilgrimage site. He visited various places there and also convened meeting of officers.

The DDC inspected existing infrastructure at Siard Baba which includes main building structure, tin sheds, changing rooms, toilets, parking areas and view zones. He also visited the site of main water fall, temple and adjacent nallah and took several decisions for their development.

It was instructed that Rural Development Department would lay crate bund either side of the adjacent stream to prevent it from sliding and damage. Instructions were also passed for raising check dams and other protection works at the site.

To make the site more attractive, it was decided to   install light fixtures and pattern reflectors as also improve the existing lightening system with a provision for gen set. Lights would also be installed at Parking and pathways. 

A wooden foot bridge would also be constructed to connect main stream and adjacent fresh spring near main water fall for magnificent view of the visitors.

It was also decided to utilize the available stones for constructing path ways and protection works to add to the beauty of the place. Emphasis was laid on proper landscaping of the area and management of existing facilities more economically and in clean and green way.

Further, it was decided to develop a green strip opposite the water fall where floriculture department would raise plantation and flower beds   and other decorative plants. The concerned officers were asked to remove debris from the main stream so that it could be widened to its original shape.  

Detailed deliberations were also held about the construction of cafeteria building, extension of parking zone, shifting of tin shops, maintenance and renovation of changing rooms, provision of cloak room facility, toilets, construction of cement benches, decoration of railings at view areas besides various other issues related with overall development of Siard Baba.

Pertinently, Siard Baba, with its natural beauty and potential of attracting thousands of tourists who visit Shiv Khori via Katra-Ransoo route, can be transformed into a major tourist site in the district.

The DDC was accompanied by AD Tourism Umesh Shan, Executive Officer Shiv Khori Shrine Om Parkash, Tehsildar Rajesh Atri, Executive Engineers, Assistant Floriculture Officer and officers of various other departments.
