MUMBAI: Rajya Sabha MP and chief Sena spokesperson criticised PM Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday for allowing Pakistan to get credit from US President Donald Trump for mediating between the US and Iran.
“Pakistan has ended up getting the credit for mediating during the war. China is a big country, but Pakistan is getting credit for mediating between Iran and the US, which India should have gotten by bringing Trump, Netanyahu, and Iran together on the negotiating table. Our great Vishwaguru has not got the credit because he had no role to play. When a war was being fought, he was busy dropping bombs on his political opponents in Kerala, West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu,” said the leader of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena.
He credited Prime Narendra Modi for the reputation Pakistan has gained. “At a time when many big developments were taking place the Prime Minister chose to work as a telephone operator. He spoke to the King of Jordan, leaders of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh of Dubai and the Foreign Minister of Iran while Pakistan got the credit for stopping the war,” he lamented.
He criticized Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar for underestimating Pakistan calling it a broker.
In a counter to Sena leader criticism, BJP spokesperson Navnath Ban said, “Sanjay Raut should first look at the condition of Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena. Like Pakistan acted as a broker during the war, Raut played the role of Pakistan’s broker in India.”
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership is capable of handling any situation. Due to this, the impact of the war has not reached India. Sanjay Raut should think more about the situation of his own party instead of talking about Iran. He should think about what happened to Uddhav Thackeray in the municipal corporation election.
