Baramulla: With Republic Day celebrations approaching, security arrangements across North Kashmir have been intensified. In this connection, a comprehensive multi-agency security review meeting was chaired on Tuesday by DIG North Kashmir Range, Maqsood-ul-Zaman (IPS), at the District Police Lines (DPL) Baramulla.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Army, CRPF, BSF, District SSPs of North Kashmir, Armed Police, SSB, Intelligence Bureau (IB), CID, CIK, SDRF, and Fire and Emergency Services, reflecting a strong spirit of inter-agency coordination.
During the meeting, recent security developments and intelligence inputs were reviewed, with a special focus on preventing any attempts by anti-national elements to disrupt peace. The officers discussed a wide range of security measures, including intensified area domination, strengthening and establishment of 24×7 checkpoints (nakas), enhanced security along national highways, CCTV surveillance, protection of vital installations and minority pockets, monitoring of social media and VPN usage, and preparedness to handle law and order situations.
Venue and perimeter security arrangements for Republic Day functions were also reviewed in detail to ensure robust access control and layered security.
The DIG NKR stressed the importance of seamless coordination among all security agencies, highlighting that joint drills, proactive measures, and real-time intelligence sharing are essential for ensuring peaceful and incident-free celebrations.
He also emphasized the need for public cooperation and urged citizens to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activity, and extend support to security forces in maintaining peace and harmony.
The meeting concluded with all participating agencies reaffirming their commitment to work in close coordination to ensure that Republic Day celebrations in North Kashmir are conducted in a secure and dignified manner.
