PDP holds meeting to commemorate Mufti Sayeed’s death anniversary

HAJIN: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday held a workers’ meeting at Dak Bungalow, Sumbal, to finalise preparations for the January 7 programme marking the death anniversary of party founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

The meeting was convened by the PDP Sonawari constituency in-charge and former MLC Yasir Reshi and was attended by senior party leaders and workers from the area.

While addressing the gathering, Reshi paid rich tributes to Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, describing him as “a visionary leader who laid the foundation of a people-centric political discourse in Jammu and Kashmir”. He said Mufti’s “vision of dignity, dialogue and democratic empowerment” continues to guide the party’s political path.

District president Bandipora Syed Sajad Hussain, while addressing the workers, also paid homage to the late leader and called upon party cadres to uphold his legacy by standing firmly with the people and raising their genuine issues at every forum.

The meeting was attended by party spokesperson Syed Tajamul, North Kashmir State Secretary Mudasir Ahmad, DDC members Tahir-ul-Qadri, Dr Mustafa and Farjeel Ahmad, block president Inayat Hajini, Bashir Ahmad, Mushtaq Ahmad, Peer Rayees, Altaf Ahmad, Shabir Hyder and other senior workers.

The leaders stressed the need for unity, grassroots strengthening and effective mobilisation for the upcoming programme to honour Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s legacy and reaffirm the PDP’s commitment to public welfare.
