CHENNAI: The two-day national annual meet of the Private Schools and Children Welfare Association (PSACWA) was successfully organized at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Chennai. The event brought together education leaders, private school management representatives, and association office-bearers from across India to discuss critical policy, administrative, and social issues affecting the private education sector.
The Kashmir Chapter of PSACWA was prominently represented by its President, Nazrul Islam Baba, who also serves as President of PSAJK. Leading a delegation of 25 delegates from Jammu & Kashmir, Baba actively participated in all sessions, articulating the regional concerns and expectations of private schools from Jammu & Kashmir on a national platform, the Association said in a statement issued here.
During the workshop, detailed discussions centred on the School Safety Standards Act (SSSA), emphasizing the importance of practical, region-sensitive implementation of safety and security protocols. The delegates unanimously agreed that while student safety remains a priority, regulatory frameworks should be designed to be facilitative rather than burdensome for schools.
Another key agenda was the implementation of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in education. Participants highlighted the need for transparency, procedural clarity, and streamlined mechanisms to ensure timely disbursement of funds. The Kashmir delegation underscored the importance of reducing documentation requirements to facilitate smooth and disruption-free academic activities.
A dedicated session on Parenting and Parent–School Partnership addressed emerging challenges in the evolving social and educational landscape. The discussions focused on fostering trust, cooperation, and shared responsibility between parents and schools to promote the holistic development of children.
The workshop also provided a platform for private schools to raise key demands, including regulatory rationalization, recognition and affiliation issues, financial sustainability, staff welfare, and safeguarding institutional autonomy. Jammu & Kashmir-specific challenges faced by schools were documented for advocacy at the national level through PSACWA.
The event concluded with a collective commitment to strengthen coordination among state chapters, engage in constructive dialogue with policymakers, and work collaboratively towards a balanced, child-centric, and welfare-oriented education ecosystem. The active participation and leadership of the PSACWA Kashmir Chapter under Nazrul Islam Baba received widespread appreciation.
