PAMPORE: Ramzaan College of Nursing, Galandar, Pampore, successfully conducted a Staff Development Program on “Anaphylactic Reactions and Standing Orders for Nurses”, which was held on December 18, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm.
The one-hour program, organized as part of the college’s ongoing staff development and quality improvement initiatives, aimed to enhance the knowledge, clinical competence, and emergency preparedness of nursing faculty members and students in managing life-threatening allergic reactions.
The session was led by Aabid Rashid, a faculty member of Ramzaan College of Nursing, who explained the topic with clarity using PowerPoint presentations and case-based discussions, while Professor Jamsheeda Zaroo, Principal of the college, delivered an informative lecture highlighting the early recognition, prompt management, and the critical role of nurses during anaphylactic emergencies. Her lecture was practical, insightful, and greatly enhanced the professional knowledge and confidence of all participants.
The program focused on understanding the concept and causes of anaphylactic reactions, identifying early signs and symptoms, learning emergency management protocols, familiarizing nurses with standing orders, and enhancing prompt decision-making to ensure patient safety. The content covered the definition and causes of anaphylaxis, pathophysiology, signs and symptoms, immediate management, role of adrenaline and other emergency medications, standing orders for nurses, documentation, and post-emergency care.
Various teaching methods, such as lectures, PowerPoint presentations, interactive discussions, and question-and-answer sessions, were used to ensure active participation. The program proved highly informative and effective, improving participants’ confidence and readiness to respond promptly to anaphylactic emergencies while following established protocols for safe patient care.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks to the management, resource person, organizing committee, and all participants for their active involvement and cooperation, marking the program as a significant contribution to enhancing the clinical skills and emergency preparedness of nursing professionals at Ramzaan College of Nursing.
