Let Us Pledge That No Daughter Will Ever Have To Fear For Her Life

Must read

Before Islam, fathers buried their daughters alive. Islam restored their dignity and honour. Budgam tragedy has shaken the entire valley. It must serve as a wake-up call. It is not enough to merely condemn such incidents. We must build a society where every daughter feels safe, respected, and valued.

Daughters are indeed the truest blessings in a family. Their value and respect go far beyond what we commonly understand. Islam teaches us about their dignity, love, and the honour they deserve; lessons that every believer should embrace. Every garden is adorned with the beauty and fragrance of flowers; similarly, every home is graced when a daughter is born.

A daughter brings complete comfort to her parents, especially her father. She strengthens the bond between father and mother, nourishing it with endless smiles and gentle words. A great father cares for his daughter, for it is he who teaches her good lessons and guides her with kindness. Daughters are naturally polite and submissive to their parents. They do not demand expensive things. Their worth is far beyond the price of gold and silver. She is a pearl within the family that shines charmingly.

Before the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), the land of Arabia was engulfed in complete darkness. The people had no respect for the female gender. Ignorance and violations were common, taking away innocent lives, especially those of daughters. They became victims of every kind of brutal atrocity. They had no respectable life and did not enjoy any rights, for there was no light of Islam.

Fathers buried their daughters alive. Everyone thought daughters were cheap and worthless. They had no right to live. Fathers were tyrants towards their daughters, behaving like beasts. The cruelty had humiliated the female gender to such an extent that it tore apart the peaceful environment. The mother of a girl child had to face the same barbarism because the notions among the Arabs were wrong and filthy. They did not understand the importance of women. Everyone behaved like cruel kings, paving the way for humiliation and disrespect.

A caring father always loves his daughter and fulfils all her wishes, both before and after marriage. The bond between a father and his daughter is an epitome in the history of mankind. A daughter is always caring towards her father. She handles the family well, as God has endowed her with unique qualities. She serves guests with love and care and helps her mother with household chores. She looks after the elders in her mother’s absence. She learns all such things from her mother at an early age.

She takes on half the burden of her family when she crosses adolescence. After crossing the age of twenty-one, she acts differently, putting all her efforts into making a home. Building a house is the work of masons and carpenters, but making a real home is something else entirely—something that is truly shaped by a mother and her daughter.

None of us can understand the value of a daughter except her father. A father is a true expert who knows both the inner and outer qualities of his daughter. Daughters are patient and listen to every word from their father. They spend less on extravagant things. A daughter is like a banker to her family, saving money for their needs. Good sons also do great things, but they cannot achieve what a daughter achieves for her family.

God shaped mankind when He created Eve. Indeed, Adam found respect when he met Hazrat Hawa. A daughter does not remain only a daughter throughout her life; rather, she becomes a sister, a wife, a mother, and a mother-in-law. She attains high ranks by playing different roles to keep the wheel of life in motion. Her role as a daughter is like a daffodil in a garden. Her role as a mother is immeasurable and exemplary, for she adds beauty to the family. A family is recognised when they have a daughter.

In a shocking incident that recently happened in District Budgam, an innocent girl was raped and murdered. A daughter of someone’s father became the victim of such cruelty. This terrifying incident has shocked the entire valley of Kashmir. Hats off to the police for their speedy and timely action in this matter.

The tragedy in Budgam must serve as a wake-up call for every one of us. It is not enough to merely condemn such incidents. We must build a society where every daughter feels safe, respected, and valued. We must raise our sons to respect women. We must teach our children the true teachings of Islam, which gave daughters their rightful status fourteen hundred years ago when the rest of the world saw them as worthless.

Let us pledge today that no daughter will ever have to fear for her life. Let us promise that we will protect, respect, and cherish our daughters as the truest blessings they truly are. For when we honour our daughters, we honour Islam. And when we protect them, we build a society that Allah is pleased with.
