4th National Lok Adalat 2025 held at Sgr; justice delivered with dignity

SRINAGAR: In a significant step towards delivering timely and amicable justice, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), in collaboration with the District Judiciary Srinagar, successfully organized the 4th National Lok Adalat 2025 at the District Court Complex Mominabad, Srinagar, and the Court of the Additional Special Mobile Magistrate/JMIC Panthachowk.
The event was held under the guidance of Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Judge of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh (Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority), with overall supervision by Haq Nawaz Zargar, Principal District & Sessions Judge (Chairman, DLSA Srinagar), and Shazia Tabasum, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority.
The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by the Principal District & Sessions Judge Srinagar in the presence of judicial officers, members of the bar, court staff, and DLSA officials.
In an interaction with the media, Adnan Sayeed, Special Judge for Anti-corruption CBI Cases, Srinagar, highlighted that the National Lok Adalat provides an effective, economical platform for dispute resolution, ensuring a win-win situation where both parties’ concerns are addressed amicably.
A total of 13 benches were formed, taking up 62,451 cases, out of which 61,767 cases were amicably settled, and a settlement amount of Rs. 86,83,82,75 was awarded.
The first bench, presided over by Adnan Sayeed and Fayaz Ahmad Qureshi, settled 50 cases out of 102, awarding Rs. 3,17,73,953. The remaining benches, presided over by various judicial officers, handled cases across different categories, including family, bank, traffic, forest, and consumer disputes.
Additionally, the Chairman DLSA distributed compensation cheques totaling Rs. 2,50,000 among survivors of violence, sanctioned by the J&K Legal Services Authority.
The 4th National Lok Adalat of 2025 saw active participation from officers, officials, and litigants, reflecting the judiciary’s commitment to resolving disputes through mutual understanding and compromise. Such initiatives help reduce case backlogs and strengthen public confidence in the legal system.
