Srinagar: In a significant crackdown on the narcotics trade, Srinagar Police attached a double-storey residential house along with 4 marlas of land, valued at approximately ₹75 lakhs, under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The property, located in Usmania Colony, Badamwari, Lal Bazar, is registered in the name of Arshid Ahmed Sheikh, son of Wali Mohammad Sheikh, a resident of the same locality. The accused is a habitual drug peddler involved in FIR No. 50/2025 under sections 8 and 20 NDPS Act at Lal Bazar Police Station and FIR No. 31/2025 under sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act at Janipur Police Station, Jammu, police said in a statement.
Investigation revealed that the property was acquired through proceeds from drug trafficking. Accordingly, the competent authority issued orders for its attachment under section 68-F of the NDPS Act.
The attachment was carried out in the presence of the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Khanyar, and two independent witnesses, ensuring full legal compliance. As per the order, the owner is now barred from selling, transferring, or creating any third-party interest in the property.
Police reaffirmed its commitment to intensify efforts against drug peddlers and dismantle their financial networks to protect society from the growing drug menace.
