GANDERBAL: A 17-year-old boy drowned on Friday morning after slipping into a power canal of the USHP-Ist Sumbal at Haknar Gund in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Officials identified the deceased as Junaid Ahmed Khan, a resident of Haknar Gund area of Ganderbal. They said the teenager accidentally slipped into the power canal near his home.
After hours of hectic efforts by the Police, SDRF, and local residents, the body was recovered approximately one kilometre from the spot where he drowned.
Following the completion of legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family for last rites.
Police in Gund have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
