Appeals for immediate relief, transportation of bodies to native villages
PAMPORE: Apni Party leader and General Secretary of the Gujjar and Bakarwal Conference, Choudhary Mohammad Yaseen Poswal, visited the site in Hatiwara Pampore where two non-locals from Uttar Pradesh drowned in the river Jhelum on Wednesday evening. He offered his support and solidarity and appealed to the administration for immediate relief efforts and comprehensive assistance for the families of the deceased non-locals.
Poswal urged the administration to arrange for the transportation of the bodies to their native villages once they are retrieved. Expressing heartfelt condolences, he conveyed sympathy on behalf of the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party to the bereaved families during this difficult time.

Speaking to Kashmir Reader, Poswal stated that the party’s President, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, deeply regretted the incident and stood with the families during this difficult time. He highlighted the efforts of the district administration, SDPO Awantipora, SHO Awantipora, Tehsildar Pampore, and other civil administration officers tirelessly working on the ground for the rescue operation.
Poswal urged labourers from other regions coming to work in the area to exercise caution when crossing the Jhelum River and requested ex-gratia relief for the families of the missing labourers from Uttar Pradesh. He emphasized the importance of transporting the bodies to their native places for the last rites.
The rescue operation for the missing labourers continued on the third day, with various rescue teams, police, civil administration, and local volunteers involved in the effort.
