Army celebrates World Environment Day in Kupwara, Uri
SRINAGAR: In a remarkable celebration of environmental stewardship and civic responsibility, World Environment Day activities were carried out at Kupwara and Uri by the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army under the inspiring theme “Hamari Sarzameen, Hamara Mustaqbil” (Our Land, Our Future), drawing enthusiastic participation from students, educators, local residents, and environmental advocates from across the region.
The day-long programmes underscored the collective commitment towards safeguarding the region’s ecological heritage and promoting sustainable living practices.
The events engaged participants in awareness activities such as the Best Out of Waste Competition, Waste Collection Challenge, Waste Segregation Game, eco-quizzes, and an eco-friendly selfie point. Students from various schools and colleges participated with remarkable enthusiasm, demonstrating creativity, environmental awareness, and a strong sense of responsibility towards nature.
An extensive plantation drive was also organised by the Indian Army on the occasion.
