The Islamabad bypoll elections have been cancelled by the Election Commission of India, saying that the ground situation is not conducive to hold free and fair elections, reports said on Tuesday.
The election was earlier slated to be held on April 12, and then postponed for May 25.
The Commission, in its order issued late last night, said the non-availability of sufficient number of forces’ personnel was also a reason behind its cancellation.
The order also mentioned that the fresh date would be announced later.
