Illegal mining: Tehsildar Pampore seizes 6 JCBs, 2 LNTs, 3 tippers

Pampore: Tehsildar Pampore Zuber Ahmad Bhat (KAS) seized 11 vehicles including, 6 JCBs, 2 LNT and three tippers used in illegal mining and transportation of raw materials during the night raids at Mandakpal village of Pampore Tehsil in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Talking to Kashmir Reader, Zuber said that he along with his team conducted night raids on the intervening night of August 29 and 30 in various areas of Pampore Tehsil to check illegal mining, extraction and transportation of raw materials.
During the raids, 11 vehicles were found involved in illegal mining and were seized at Mandakpal village of Pampore Tehsil. The seized machines were handed over to the officials of the Geology and Mining Department Khrew for further legal action.
These vehicles were being used in mining, extraction and transportation of the raw materials illegally extracted during night hours. “Only mining through legal process will be allowed, illegal mining will not be allowed,” he said, adding they raid whenever they receive reports about illegal mining in the area.
He said that all of his team has been put on alert to monitor illegal mining in Pampore Tehsil. “All the illegal mining cases would be dealt with under the rules and all the things against the violators would be done by a fast-track system,” he said.
The tehsildar said the authorities will act tough against illegal miners.
Talking to Kashmir Reader, District Mineral Officer Pulwama Geology and Mining Department Pulwama said they laid a crackdown at various locations in Pampore and other areas of the district.
After receiving information from Tehsildar Pampore, I along with the team and SHO Khrew Rehman Tandoli reached the Mandakpal and shifted the seized vehicles to sub-office Geology and Mining Department Khrew for further action.
The seized vehicles including JCBs, LNTs like heavy Earth moving machines and tippers used in illegal mining, and transportation of raw materials illegally extracted were seized at Mundakpal Ladhoo village of Pampore.
He said that all of his team has been put on alert to monitor illegal mining in the district.
Since there is zero tolerance against illegal mining, the department has been holding an extensive drive against the violators in various areas of the district, the officer said, adding that all the illegal mining cases would be dealt with under the rules and all the things against the violators would be done by a fast-track system.
